Lázaro Cárdenas

Capacity constraints at West Cost ports make Kansas City's inland port an attractive solution. CenterPoint Intermodal Center - Kansas City provides direct connection from Lázaro Cárdenas to Kansas City.

The Port of Lázaro Cárdenas is the deepest natural port in Mexico allowing access for the largest cargo ships in the world, today. Lázaro Cárdenas currently has eight port terminals and a future container port is planned. After full development, the port will have the capacity to handle in excess of 2,000,000 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEU's) per year and is expected to be a main connection for Asian goods to reach the U.S.

  • Port of Lázaro Cárdenas is quickly becoming a major gateway for US imports from Asia
  • At full build-out, capacity at the port will reach 2 million TEU's annually
  • Port accepts ships carrying up to 12,000 containers
  • Deepest natural port in Mexico
